Welcome

Welcome to the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (O.E.C.T.A.) Dufferin-Peel Occasional Teachers' Bargaining Unit (OTBU).  This OTBU represents over 1400 certified daily occasional, and LTO teachers, who are in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and work for the  Dufferin-Peel C.D.S. Board.  Our members are a heterogeneous group – retired teachers, career OTs and teachers wanting full time, permanent positions.  These members are covered by the Collective Agreement (contract) between OECTA – Dufferin-Peel Occasional Teachers' Bargaining Unit (OTBU) and the Dufferin-Peel C.D.S. Board.  The Dufferin-Peel OTBU negotiates and maintains the collective agreement; provides assistance to members facing allegations/discipline; provides services which support the membership; educates members through meetings, communications and personal contact; and advocates on behalf of all members.

As an occasional teacher, you are a professional in every way. Each day your personal manners in the form of speech, attitude and behaviour, and your expectations of the students you teach, can instill a positive or negative attitude in a classroom during the regular teacher’s absence. Your job is very important to the students, the teachers, and the administration. As a valued member of the educational team, your professionalism, ideas, and talents will support the educational programs in the schools.

When questions/concerns arise, please do not hesitate to contact the Dufferin-Peel OTBU office by phone or email.  Should you encounter difficulties or are accused of misconduct, call the OTBU office immediately!

The Executive extends to each member their best wishes for a successful, enjoyable and fulfilling new school year. Remember, be proud of who you are and what you do as professionals!
